Coburg Antique Faire

I may have mentioned that Isabel and I have shopped at the Coburg Antique Faire the last few years, but that this year we decided to sell there too. Coburg is a sweet little town about two hours south of where we live. We drove down on Saturday afternoon and set up the bigger stuff. We then came back super early Sunday morning to finish up. It was so funny to see lots of buyers with flash lights and head lamps shopping in the dark. I had heard about that before, but since I have never shopped that early myself, I never saw it actually happening.

Our friend Braeda took this picture for us on Isabel's camera. Don't we look like we are having fun?

We had a great day seeing lots of our friends and we even met some new friends. A few sweet gals stopped by to say hi and that they read our blogs. We even had several buyers who we met at other sales like Expo stop and say hi. Here are some pictures of our good buddies booths. We were all in the same area so it was fun to run back and forth a bit to check up on each other when we had time.

Martha's booth.Diane's booth

Cindy's booth

Kathy's booth.

Sue's booth.

Joy's booth
And finally, my half of our booth
and Isabel's half
Of course, we couldn't go to this sale without shopping a little bit. Isabel and I took turns and we both were able to find a few neat things.

I found this adorable pink vintage prom dress for only $4.00. Okay, you can hate me now.

Here's a close up of the bodice. Also found these brass curtain tie backs and ten of my favorite vintage glass knobs.I traded Isabel an old doll I found for this painting. You can see the doll on her blog.
I forgot to take a picture, but I also found a cute pink roses apron and a lovely crocheted hanger for my collection. I was really good and didn't bring any big furniture home. Hubby was pleased about that.

Laura, who I met at Farm Chicks and who is a BFF of my BFF Timi, gave me this award recently and I am so honored to accept it. I have gotten a few awards in the past for my little ol blog and it is always so nice to be recognized in that way. So, thanks so much Laura. I really, really appreciate it!

Pam, at One Gal's Trash tagged me to list 7 random things about myself. It is always so hard to come up with things to share, but here goes.

1. I am a rule follower. I guess I always worry about getting caught if I break the rules. This probably goes along with being a people pleaser.

2. I love teen movies. Always have and now that I'm in my 40's I still watch them.

3. I have a funny game I like to play when I'm out thrifting. If I find several items at one place, I like to find at least one thing that I can sell for at least the total amount I pay for all the items at one place. Does that make sense? That way I feel like every thing else I got for free and whatever money I make selling the items is pure profit. I know, silly, right?

4. In high school I was voted "Miss Preppy" even though I wasn't really. I wore mini skirts before anyone else did and my outfits were always very color coordinated and cute. I was also voted, "Best Freckles." My freshman year in college I was voted, "Biggest Flirt" in my dorm. Again, I don't agree with this one. I just had a lot of male friends and being the affectionate person I am, I gave out lots of hugs.

5. On my husband and my first date in college we drove to a bar on my scooter (the motorcycle kind). I was wearing a fluffy coat and I remember he put his hands in my pockets to stay warm. We were having a great time until we got pulled over by the police on the way home. The police officer said, "you know this vehicle is only for one person." To which my husband replied, "but I was holding on." I ended up getting a ticket which was a small price to pay for my silly new boyfriend who eventually became my great husband.

6. When we made the decision that I would quit my job to be a stay at home Mom, it literally cut our income in half. We had some pretty tough years financially, but I never regretted our decision. It has been the most difficult and rewarding job I have ever had.

and finally

7. I love jewelry. Especially vintage inspired jewelry and I seem to have accumulated quite a collection of it. But, I rarely wear more than just my wedding ring, an aqua marine ring, my diamond solitaire necklace my hubby gave me for our 15th anniversary and a pair of simple earrings.

Wow, that was really hard. I know I have lots of stories and feel like I have led an interesting and fun life, but I always have a hard time coming up with interesting things to tell about myself. If you are newish to my blog you can read more stuff about me by clicking on the "stuff about me" category at the bottom of my sidebar.

On my next post I will share some pictures of our booth at the Fall Premier Sale and some new thrifted finds.

Weekend Finds and One Off to Camp

Up and out early on Friday morning to hit the sales in my town. Lots of sales, but mostly kids clothes, toys and newer stuff. I did manage to find a neat old wood bookshelf, a pair of floral applique pillowcases and a neat vintage tablecloth in unused condition. On Saturday I decided I was going to hang out at home and be lazy. I had gotten a few books from the library and it was the perfect time to read (hubby gone fishing, kids sleeping in, etc.).

Later in the day I did happen to stumble (funny how that happens) on a cute pink painted armoire/wardrobe on craigslist in Oregon City and as luck would have it, I was the first who come come take a look at it. It has a few minor problems, but overall very cute and the price was good.

In my mind I am already sanding it quite a bit for a more distressed look and changing out the extra large porcelain rose knobs for some sparkly glass ones from my stash. As I was driving out of Oregon City I noticed lots of garage sale signs. Turns out there was a community garage sale going on in an older part of town (lots of neat historic houses making me drool) so I parked the car. At the first sale I went to I found a very neat old mirror frame, older dresser mirror and painted chippy mug holder. Next sale I got a cute wood/caned vanity bench and rustic little table with a terrible paint job. The next sale I went to had lots of cool antiques, but prices were pretty high. I got a cute old and dirty little wood medicine cabinet with its original glass shelves still intact. Went to a few more sales, but didn't find anything else. Was thrilled with my purchases though.

Yesterday morning I picked up Isabel and we hit the Aurora Antique Faire. I was very good and didn't buy a lot. Just a old mirror for myself, two cute pink corner shelves, a cute metal vanity stool (I have the perfect pc of vintage fabric picked out for this one) and two little silver candle holders.

Here's my haul for the weekend minus the linens and mirror as I forgot to get a picture of those.
My lovely 14 year old just left for camp this morning so I told her I wanted to get a "off to camp" picture. "Oh Mom!" she says.
"Come on, smile like you're really excited to be going," I say. That's better!
She will be gone all week and I will miss her, but at least I'll get to use the computer a little more. I can't believe that my baby girl will be starting high school in just a few weeks. We were at Target yesterday and it was packed with people buying back to school supplies. Oops! I forgot my list. Anyway, it is still too early to be thinking about school as far as I'm concerned. We'll just do like we always do and scramble around at the last minute trying to find everything.
Timi, my new BFF I met at Farm Chicks, tagged me a couple weeks ago to do a mid week Meme. (I still don't know what "meme" means) This one is where I'm suppose to tell four things about myself that you should know in the unlikely event you invite me over for dinner. My response is, "just 4?" Okay, here goes and I'm sorry Timi if some of these things looked like I took them from you, but there is a reason we are BFF's you know!
1. I am a sort of picky eater. I don't like tomatoes, (unless they are sundried or in spaghetti sauce or ketchup) mushrooms, peppers, olives, brussel sprouts and I'm sure a few other things I can't think of right now. You don't have to cook anything special for me, but don't be offended if there is a little pile of picked out things I don't like on my plate.
2. I am not really much of a wine drinker or beer drinker for that matter. Just give me the hard stuff mixed in with something sweet (ie strawberry daiquiri, amaretto sour, baileys Irish cream on the rock, you get the idea).
3. I love to hear your stories and am not afraid or too shy to ask questions. Okay, let's face it. I am a nosey person. I have to know the whole story and if I don't get enough details, I'll probably ask more questions to find out. It drives me crazy not knowing the whole story. That said, I love to tell my stories too (especially after some of the above mentioned cocktails) and I might even interrupt your story to tell you mine. This isn't because I'm trying to be rude, only that your story reminds me about my story and if I don't tell it right away, I'm likely to forget it.
4. If you ask me to dinner, I will always ask what I can bring along and as I am the self proclaimed "queen of the side dish" I will probably bring along some kind of salad, beans, or casserole of some sort. I also really like to bring some kind of yummy hot dip as I love hot dip and I never make it unless I have or am going to a party.
So that's it. I'm sure I could go on with more things, but that gives you a good idea. Speaking of hot dip. I will share with you a recipe I love to make. I call it Theresa's Dip, because my step sister Theresa made it years ago at a family party and I loved it so much I made her give me the recipe.
Theresa's dip
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 c. grated cheddar cheese
1 1/2 c. sour cream
dash of Tabasco
1 small can chopped green chilis (I use mild)
6 oz. chopped cooked ham
1/2 c. chopped green onion (tops and bottoms)
Mix all together and back in a casserole dish for 30 minutes at 375 degrees. Serve hot with tortilla chips. Enjoy!
Well, that's it for now. Just waiting for my honey to come home from a five day fishing trip this morning. Can't wait to see him. He had a very successful trip and had a lot of fun too. I already gave him a heads up about the new (old) furniture currently gracing the front porch and he's in such a good mood that he said he doesn't even care about it! Woo Hoo!
*Blogger is once again driving me crazy. Before it was adding spaces now it's taking them away. I can't win!

A Thing for Vintage Dressers + 7 Things

Last week I was surfing around on craigslist. I love craigslist, btw. Love it! I have both bought and sold many things on craigslist. If I could I would give this Craig person a hug for coming up with a way to get rid of and buy stuff quite easily. Anyway, back to the surfing. While I was looking around I spotted a listing for a "Chest of Drawers" in my town. When I clicked on it I thought, hey pretty cute, but more than I would normally pay for a dresser. Oh, did I mention, I have a thing for vintage dressers? I love them and they are usually pretty good sellers for me at the antique mall. Okay, I'm getting off track.

Fast forward to Wednesday when I finally decided I needed to go look at this dresser I found. Well, let's just say that I fell in love with this dresser, and, I offered $20 less than the asking price, and it was accepted so the dresser came home with me. Now, this dresser is a lot older and completely different from the one I showed on my last post and I paid a little more than $14.99 for it, but this one is way cooler in my book. So without further ado, here it is:

I love the chippy paint, the carvey parts and of course, the cute little drawer boxes on top. It is pretty dirty and stinky, things that don't really put me off, but come on, pink paint! Did I mention that I love it?!

Okay, now that I have completely bored you with the story of the new dresser, I will now bore you some more with 7 random things about me. Tammy tagged me to do this, so if you are bored with my list, blame her. If you are new to my blog and want to read some more boring stuff about me, you can click on the "stuff about me" category on my side bar. Here goes!

1. I love the beach! I do! Have always loved it. The Oregon Coast is so much different from the beaches in California where I spent the first 12 years of my life, but I think if I had to choose, I would choose Oregon. The beaches are peaceful and uncrowded and quite frankly my bikini sunbathing days are long over so that isn't an issue. We actually went to the beach today and I will share some pictures in my next post.

2.When I was a little girl, I loved to read. I still do, but just don't seem to find the time to do as much reading as I would like. Plus, if I do pick up a book, I have to read it from start to finish and nothing else gets done. When I was little, my favorite books were the Little House series. I bought them and read them all again a few years ago and they were still as wonderful as I remember.

3. I love buying vintage linens even if they are dirty. Like Joy, I get a thrill at seeing the dirty water when I soak my linens in Oxy. I know, this one is strange, but I really love seeing that dirty water because it just means I am getting my new old linens really clean.

4. In June of 2006, I fulfilled a long time dream and traveled to Paris. I went with my Dad for a week and loved every minute of it. I felt like I was dreaming the whole time. My Dad and I are huge movie buffs and while we were there, we saw three movies including Marie Antoinette which didn't get released in the U.S. until a year later. Two days after that we went to Versaille where the movie was actually filmed. I am dying to go back to Paris and maybe visit the South of France as well and hope to be able to in the next few years.

5. Until recently I have never considered myself to be artistic. I can't draw or paint or sculp or play a musical instrument or even sing well. Having this blog has really made me realize that I am artistic in my own way. I can create things, sew, decorate and those are all artistic things, right? I still fall into the trap of comparing myself to other artists I admire and I am really trying hard to be proud of my own ablities and creations.
6. My Mom is probably my biggest blogging fan. She is the only person in my family who reads my blog on a regular basis and she always gives me kudos on my posts. (In person, she never comments.) Thanks Mom!

7. This one you probably already know about me, but other than spending time with my family, I would rather go thrifting than do anything else. That includes garage sales, flea markets, antique shows, etc. If I had unlimited funds I would still buy most things second hand. I am too cheap to pay retail. Isabel and I are always joking that we would still go to the Goodwill if we won the lottery. Our dream would be to fly to the east coast, rent a uhaul and thrift our way back home. Maybe someday.

Well, there you have it. More than you ever really wanted to know about me and then some.
Hope you all have a truly awesome weekend!

Seven Things and My Day at the Flea Market

Cheryl at Periwinkle Vintage tagged me to do the 7 things about myself game. I have done this a couple times before, so if you have been reading my blog for awhile you probably already know quite a bit about me. If not, you can go to my sidebar and click on the "stuff about me" category to read past posts.

1. I am a non-confrontational person. I just want everyone to get along. That said, I hate it when people try to "buck the system." You know steal, cut in line, etc. and sometimes I will say or do something depending on the situation.

2. I love McDonald's Cheeseburgers. I know, gross, right? But my favorite way to eat them is to take the pickle off (I hate pickles) and put a layer of french fries on it. I know, this is a weird one, but I did it as a kid and I still like to do it. Now both of my kids do it too.

3. I hate to be late. To anything. It stresses me out and I will intentionally be early to something to avoid being late.

4. This one kind of goes along with the first one. One of my favorite quotes is, "don't sweat the small stuff." I read once somewhere that the "big stuff" is you are born and you die, everything else in the middle is small stuff. I try to live my life this way and not let things get to me. Basically I just want to be a happy person so I strive to do things that make me happy as much as I am able. We have a saying in our house that my hubby came up with and it's, "if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

5. I love to laugh and try hard to never take myself too seriously. I also love to surround myself with people who love to laugh too.

6. When I was a kid, I loved to roller skate. I was completely passionate about it and at one point, thought I would become a professional roller skater. Of course, I didn't know that such a thing didn't really exist or that people wouldn't pay me to roller skate.

7. I also took lots of dance classes as a child. Ballet, tap, jazz. I was pretty good too, but we moved when I was about 10 years old to a new town and I just lost interest in dancing and started cheerleading instead. I wish I would have kept taking dance lessons and sometimes think I will take an adult ballet class just for fun.

Well, that's it. I thought it would be harder to come up with 7 more things about myself, but if you know anything about me, you know that I love to talk about myself. Really, I do. But even more than talking about myself, I love hear about other peoples stories. Oops, I guess that would be #8.

I mentioned in my last post that my hubby and I went to the flea market on Sunday. It was a good thing Isabel sold a couple things for me at Expo on Friday, otherwise I wouldn't have had any money to spend at the flea market. I get it, I spend it. Anyway, here is what I came home with.
I found a neat barkcloth era slipcover for a chair. Pretty much a cutter, but lots of pretty fabric to craft with, three old dolls, rose apron, bird cage, little tin mirror, spool of black velvet ribbon, little mirror, rick rack, black and white baby pictures, and some misc. rhinestone pieces, another old shopping cart (not pictured) and a scrolly pink metal holder thingy.
Here are the cute baby pics.
This doll is my favorite of the three.
This tiny cherub plate measures about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and says Limoges France on the back.
Well, this is #99 so you know what that means. Next post will most likely be on Thursday so come back and see what I have planned for the 100th post giveaway.

Pillows and I've been tagged again

Happy Monday everyone! We have a light dusting of snow on the ground which in my town means a 2 hour delay for schools. That's okay. I didn't have anything major planned this morning. I do need to get my swaps in the mail and do a little house cleaning, but you all know I how I feel about that.

Yesterday I spent a little time in my sewing room making a pillow out of those vintage fabric scraps I bought recently at the antique show I went to with Joy.

Here is it is.

I think it turned out pretty cute. I used some other vintage fabric from my stash for the back. I tried to keep it simple. My sewing skills are not what I would call "professional," but I am not going for perfection. My things definitely have a home made quality to them and that's okay by me. When I first started quilting years ago, I would make sure to follow the pattern, pin all my pieces together, etc. Now I just kind of wing it which I think is much more fun and less stressful.

I got everything I bought at the goodwill bins washed and ironed and look at how cute this little pillow cover turned out. Fortunately I had a pillow form that fit perfectly. I will be taking this and the pillow I made over to Monticello sometime this week.

Sweet Sarah from Passementeries Diary has tagged me to share "tips for fabulous blogging."

First off, let me say how flattered I am that she would tag me and my blog for this. I still feel like such a newbie to the blogging world as I have only been doing this since last July and feel that I still have so much to learn about posting, taking pictures, etc.

I guess I just try to make my blog something I would want to read. I post pictures of things I like and am always surprised to find others people like the same stuff. The blogs I enjoy reading always have pretty pictures that are usually taken by the blog owner, interesting and funny stories, tips and tutorials on how to make stuff, and fun and creative crafts made by the blogger. So, I try to include those elements in my posts. Mostly, I think my blog is a reflection of me and my life. I try to write like I would be having a conversation with a good friend.

So, I guess my tips would be:

*Try to include personal pictures in your posts*

*Share some information about yourself so people can get to know you, your personality, likes, dislikes*

*Don't be shy about sharing your ideas, crafts, yummy recipes, places to go and things to see*

*Leave comments on blogs you find interesting. This one is important and helpful if you want to develop a bigger audience for your blog*
I'll end this post with another picture of a recent find. The after picture. I mentioned before that I bought this cute crinoline from Randy of Madison Park. After washing it, doing a tiny repair and giving the ribbon a little iron, I think it looks as good as new. So much prettier than my picture shows.

Just found out that school has been cancelled for today. That's okay, I was feeling like I could use another pajama day anyway.

Cheers!

Added note: I just found out that the mall where Isabel and I have a booth, Monticello Antiques, has a blog! Why didn't I know this? Anyway, you can check it out located on my sidebar under fun blogs to visit.

I'm such a stalker and other things

On Tuesday I went to Joy's as planned to pick up some of my stuff. We didn't have much time to play, but did manage to squeeze in a little shopping.

We stopped at Goodwill where all I found was a cute cake stand. Joy found some cute baby clothes that I'm sure she will do something fun with. We then headed over to check out a couple antique shops in her town.

Lots of cute things but all I bought was a bag of rusty keys for crafty stuff. I think I'm good on keys for awhile, like maybe until I'm 80 or so. I have a lot, but you just never know when you will need some good, old, crusty keys.

I finally managed to get the dresser I bought last week out of my car. Here is a picture of it. Pretty cute I think. It will be even better painted a creamy pink.

Now for why I said I'm such a stalker. A while back I somehow stumbled upon the blog of the fabulously talented Tammy Gilley. After reading her profile I noticed that she lives right here in my little town. So I dropped her an email to say hi. She was sweet and responded hi back. Fast forward to a couple months later and I decide that we should meet for coffee. I love reading her blog and feel we have lots in common. So, we email back and forth and finally schedule a time to meet for coffee. Unfortunately she had to cancel at the last minute, but a couple weeks later she emails me to say let's try again. So, that is just what we did yesterday. I knew her right away from her picture on her blog. She was as sweet and wonderful as I had thought she would be. We talked non stop for two hours about everything under the sun. She is truly a kindred spirit and we are looking forward to getting together for some thrifting once her website is up and running. If you haven't read her blog, please do so. She is incredibly artistic and her projects are just lovely. But what impressed me most about Tammy is that she is a woman who loves life and loves to laugh.
After meeting with Tammy I was so inspired to do some crafting that I came home and worked on my Valentines for the swaps I'm doing. Here are a couple that I am working on.

I would really like to get them done and in the mail early so I'm not stressing over missing the deadline. I think they are coming together very nicely if I do say so myself. I'm loving being creative, but my recently clean and shiny sewing room is once again a mess of paper and glitter.

Priscilla over at Flea Market Queen tagged me to do the Weird facts about myself. I have done this before which you can see here. But I'm sure I can come up with 7 more weird things about myself. In fact after reading this post, you may not want to come back when you see what a weirdo I really am. Here goes:

1. I love to go to movies during the day, by myself. If I have the time and there are movies that I want to see, I will go. I love that the theaters aren't crowded, no one is talking to me and I can sit in the exact spot I want. I must sit in the second from the top row, right in the middle. If I can't sit in that spot, I get grumpy and won't enjoy the movie as much.

2. When I sweep the floor, I always leave a pile of dirt and stuff without picking it up. This drives my husband crazy. I think I do it more now because I know it makes him nuts.

3. Speaking of nuts, my husband and I have an ongoing contest to see who is the weirdest. Before we started dating I said that he probably wouldn't like me because I am really weird. He replied that he was much weirder than me. Now, over 20 years later he thinks I'm the weirdest and I think he is. For example, we like to say weird things like, "it's nice to be nice to the nice" or "it's fun to have fun with the fun." I know you are probably thinking we are both the biggest dorks on the planet and you would be right.

4. This is one that I kind of stole from someone elses weird list, but it is true for me too. I like weird smells like gasoline and skunk.

5. When I was in high school, I would eat peanut better and mustard sandwiches. I know it sounds disgusting, but really it wasn't too bad.

6. I get my best ideas and am the most creative/motivated to create when I have only a little time to create. For example, I will get a great idea to make something, 20 minutes before I have to take the kids to school. But, when I have huge blocks of time in which to be creative, I can't get motivated. I don't know why that is.

7. I love sun dried tomatoes. Love them. Love spaghetti sauce too. And ketchup. Absolutely hate raw tomatoes. Can't stand the sight or smell of them either.

*Bonus weird thing about me: When my kids call me weird, which is quite often, I always say, "thank you, for the compliment."

Okay, now that you know what a crazy person I am, I hope you won't hold it against me.

I'm suppose to pass this on to other people to write their "weird" list, so I will tag:

Victoria at Vintage Tea
Polly at Counting your Blessings
Michelle at Back Through Time
Karoline at Cherished*Vintage
and
Heather at Pretty Petals Boutique
If you have already done this, I apologize.

Kitchen duty for me today and tomorrow. Saturday is basketball and some much needed house cleaning, but on Sunday, woo hoo! I am going to an antique show to do a little treasure hunting. I can't wait!

I also finished with the Maui trip planning so that is behind me. I can't wait to go. We have been having cold and frosty weather here lately. I could really use some warm weather about now. I guess I'll have to wait awhile.

Bye for now!

Finally, Madison Park and I've been Tagged

Okay, so much fun going to my daughter's last soccer game of the season. The weather was perfect and I got the snack thing all worked out, so all was good. As I mentioned in my last post, Isabel and I headed over to our friend and fellow Monticello dealer, Randy's new store in the Sellwood area of Portland. It is in a historic house and couldn't have been cooler. Everything is so Randy's style. Here are some pictures so you can see what I mean.

This display is in the entry. I love the screen decorated with book pages. Some great vintage Christmas items and of course, my favorite, a birdcage!A neat display in the center of the room.Inside one of the many glass cases, small lovelies.Love this display pc. I can't believe how many he has, look at the cool trees and red and green balls on top.

I have more photos to share with you, but I am having trouble with blogger right now. Will try again later. If you are in the Portland area and would like to visit Madison Park Antiques, the address is:

7805 SW 13th, Portland, OR

(Old Sellwood)

And now for the game where I am suppose to share 6 facts/things about myself and then tag 6 others to play. Thanks Sandi for thinking of me!

If you have been reading my blog regularly you may remember this post. Well, here goes with 6 more strange/weird/funny/interesting things about yours truly.

1. My shoes must always match something else I am wearing. I'm serious. If I am wearing black shoes, I must have something else on that is black. Even if it is only a belt or earrings. This probably explains why I have 10 pairs of converse tennis shoes all in different colors. I also happen to love converse tennis shoes.

2. I absolutely hate long toenails. They totally gross me out and if you are a good friend of mine, I will tell you if you need to cut them. (Sorry Isabel :)

3. I can sing the entire French National Anthem. I learned it in high school to get extra credit in my French class and strangely enough it is one thing that has stuck with me all these years. If I ever meet you in person, ask me and I will sing it for you, but you will most likely wish you hadn't asked as I am a terrible singer.

4. The summer I turned 20 I found myself without a job so I answered an ad to work in Yellowstone National Park as a housekeeper, took a Greyhound bus there and had one of the best times of my life. Everyone that worked there was hired over the phone so there were some really strange/interesting people, but mostly fun. The parties we had were a blast. I was sad to see the summer end and go back to school.

5. If I could have any talent/skill it would be two things. I would love to speak French fluently and with a proper accent and I would be thrilled to be able to paint roses. Good, realistic looking roses like Christie Repasy.

and finally

6. I met my husband my senior year in college. I was sitting in a local hang out with some friends and he walked in. I thought he was so cute and told one of my friends who said, "Oh, that's ****." She knew him from freshman year as one of her friends used to date him. Anyway, he got his food and came over to sit by us. The first thing out of my mouth to him was, "you know, when you weren't looking, they dropped your hamburger on the floor." (They really didn't) He must have thought I was a lunatic. I think that was winter term and we started dating in spring term and have been together ever since, over 20 years, so I must have done something right.

Don't you wish you lived next door to me? ha ha So now that you know what a weirdo/dork I am, it's my turn to tag 6 others and they are:

Laurie at Mom of 2 Roses

Julia at Julia's Junket

Rene at Miss Gracies House

Kim at Vintage Pretties

Cindy at My Romantic Home

and lastly,

Joy at A Day in the Life

And Joy, this is the second time I tagged you and since you didn't play last time, you better this time, okay?:) (just kidding, I'll still love you even if you don't)

Have a fun day everyone!

I'm It-Again!

Michelle at I'm A Little Teapot tagged me to tell 7 facts about myself. The funny thing was, I was just thinking today that I should do a post where I share a little info about me. If you are a regular reader of my blog you already know some things about me. Such as, I love roses. I love to decorate and thrift store shop. I love spending time with my husband, son and daughter and I am a part-time lunch lady. I have a booth at an antique mall called Monticello with my very dear friend, Isabel. Here are some things you may not know about me:

1. I have a bachelor of science from Oregon State University in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. I worked for 6 years as a Hotel Sales Executive for Hilton Hotels, Red Lion Hotels, and Embassy Suites.

2. I spent a summer during college in Reno as a cocktail waitress at Harrah's Casino.

3. Some other jobs I have had include, baby sitter, housekeeper, restaurant hostess, hotel front desk clerk, retail sales person, toy sales person and conference center manager.

4. I was a cheerleader for 6 years starting when I was 10 years old for Pop Warner Football.

5. I was born in Long Beach, CA, but my family moved to Oregon when I was 12. After graduating college I moved back to Southern California for three years and then moved back to Oregon where I have lived ever since. Can't imagine living anywhere else even though I get the urge to move to a different house every couple of years.

6. I hugged a famous actor. Keanu Reeves was in my town filming "Thumbsucker" which most of you probably never heard of. Anyway, my friend Debra and I decided to go down to the movie set and stalk him. He was signing autographs for a group of fans and I pushed my way up to him and asked for a hug. I had to ask twice before he reluctantly gave me a hug. Not one of my most shining moments. The funny thing is, I am not really a very big fan of Keanu. I think he kind of stinks as an actor.

7. I have been married for 16 years to my adorable husband. We have been together for 20 years and are still very much in love.

I'm suppose to tag 7 others, but most everyone I know has already done this. So, if you haven't already been tagged, please feel free to do a post and list 7 things about yourself so we can get to know you better. Hope you liked my 7 facts.

On to other things. Both kids were at sleepovers last night so hubby and I had a breakfast date this morning. So much fun to sit and talk without interruption. We then came home and got ambitious cleaning and organizing the garage. Sent hubby to goodwill with a truck full of junk. Not good junk, but real junky junk. Took some pictures of some thing to sell on craigs list. I wish I could take them to the antique mall, but just no room. Here is just some of what I am trying to sell:

(Just got a call on this pink cutie, it may be sold by tomorrow)

Cool bed, huh? I have had it several years and it has been just sitting in my garage.

Before I forget, I got my order from Andrea at One Hundred Wishes yesterday. Look how cute everything is.
The pink rose paisley fabric I got on ebay yesterday as well. I thought it looked cute with all of Andrea's goodies. Love the pink lollipop and the glue stick is so yummy smelling I just wanted to take a little lick, but I didn't. My glue eating days were over in 2nd grade.

I did use the glue stick today on a little mini tag project that I didn't get finished. I will try to finish up tonight or tomorrow and post some pictures. Hope everyone had a wonderful and fun weekend!

Tag I'm It!

Pricilla over at Sweet Rememberance tagged me to play the middle name game. This is where you take the letters of your middle name to use words to describe yourself. If you don't have a middle name then you pick a name you wish you had. After that you tag others based on how many letters you have in your middle name. So, here goes. My middle name is Mari. Pronounced like Marie. Not sure why my mom left the e off, but now that I am doing this I am glad she did. ha ha

M-Mother

A-Artistic

R-Responsible

I-Impulsive

Wow, that wasn't very easy. I wish I had an S for Silly or a G for Goofy in my name because those would definitely apply. Now for who I will tag. That's tough cause I am pretty new to this blog thing and most of the bloggers I know have already been tagged. Well, I will definitely tag Joy and Becca and Donna and finally Lallee.

Gotta run and get the kids off to school. Have a fun day!
