Some Stuff I Got Yesterday

Hi, it's me again! Wow, two posts in two days! Gotta make up for lost posting time, I guess.

My hubby's parents left yesterday after a short visit. It was so great to see them. They live about three hours away and we don't get to see them as often as we used to. It was fun having people to cook for and I always love trying out new recipes on them. My kids are the pickiest eaters so it is nice to cook for people who like to eat. Did I mention I like to eat too? Well, I'm gonna have to start working out a bit more because the holidays sure were hard on my body.

The memorial service we attended yesterday was very nice. I feel really bad for the husband that was left behind. He is a sweet, awkward kind of guy who I never really bonded with much. He really likes my husband and since he isn't really handy, my husband has helped him with some home fix-it projects. His wife who passed was Cathy. I hate to admit this here, but I really never talked to her. I think her health kept her inside a lot, but I never really made much of an effort in the six years since we moved to this street, to get to know her. Now I'm sorry I didn't. Her friends and family loved her so much and called her an "angel." So, my New Years resolution is to get to know my neighbors. That is my mission this year. The first year we lived here there was a great block party on our street. Since then, nothing. So I am going to try to organize one for this next 4th of July. Wish me luck!

On to the good stuff. After the service yesterday and after being cooped up in the house cooking and cleaning the last couple days, I decided I needed some shopping therapy so I headed out to the Stars Antique Malls in Portland. It had been awhile and I can always find some good stuff there. Yesterday did not disappoint.

Here is what I came home with.

I got a cute floral Ralph Lauren ruffled sham, a handmade barkcloth pillowcase which I already took apart, small piece of vintage wallpaper, bag of metal and rhinestone buttons, brass italian oval frame and 12 brass metal thingys. Not sure what they are or what I will do with them, but they were a good price and interesting looking. I might be able to use them on a future craft project. On the way home I stopped off at the Salvation Army "Boutique" store and found the little silver baby cup. It has the name "Madeline" on it which is the name of my daughters BFF.

Speaking of my daughter and her BFF, here is my favorite picture of them. I just love it. Aren't they simply adorable? Okay, I know I'm bragging. Everyone always says that she looks just like me. Neither of us sees it. She's the one on the right.

I got a package in the mail yesterday from Michelle over at Back Through Time. I ordered a couple things off her Etsy account.

Cute little ornaments. I think they would be great to have out all year.

Michelle was so sweet to send them in the little floral box and she also included the most gorgeous piece of roses ribbon and some adorable ribbon flowers too. Thanks so much Michelle!
Well, I better get busy doing something today. I am going to make some yummy seafood chowder to take over to Isabel's and enjoy with her and Joy while they do some decorating. Still haven't heard from the flea market gal so not sure if that will happen this weekend. We'll see. Have a truly wonderful day!
