Checking In

I just realized that I haven’t posted in over a week.  Not a good blogger lately.  So sorry.  The truth is, not much is going on around here.  Just enjoying these last days of summer with the kids before they head back to school.  Both in high school this year, yikes! Where did the time go?

One exciting thing that happened in the last week was I sold thisDSCF0874

You might remember me mentioning this piece a time or two.  It most recently made its appearance at my new Stars mall space and I received a call on Sunday that it sold.  I couldn’t be more thrilled.  While in my humble opinion this was an awesome find, it was also so, so very heavy.  I’m glad it has gone on to a new home and I’ll never have to move it again.  My husband is very happy too.

Have hit a few thrift stores this past week, but pickins have been slim.  Nothing too terribly exciting to show.  What I really need to do is get busy working on some of the projects that are cluttering up the garage.  I do have one more show to do before the end of summer.  I will be at Coburg, Sunday after Labor Day at the Coburg Antique Faire with Isabel and lots of our junking friends.

But, before then, I’ll be making a little trip up to Camas, Washington to check out the Camas Antique Faire.  This show is sure to be great as it is being set up by two of my very favorite people, Debbie and Laurie or Worthy Goods. Click on the link to get more info. I’ll be looking for some good vintage stuff including buttons and vintage bling, but seriously, do you think I need more?

Just saying.  Whoever said “less is more” was just crazy!  ha ha If you’re in the area you shouldn’t miss this show. TTFN!

Great Weekend

My great weekend started off Friday night when my sweetie and I went to see the B52’s. The concert was fabulous! I thought for sure I would lose my voice from all the yelling and singing I was doing.  After 30 plus years they still got it.  My only complaint is they didn’t play long enough.

Saturday, Isabel and I left very early to drive to Yakima.  Just under a 4 hour trip.  We went to the super awesome Clayson Farms Antique Sale.  So fun bumping into Joe & Jermonne, and Cindy who were there shopping.  We also got to visit with Joe and Sue, Julie and Mike and Joy and Dave who were all there selling up a storm.  I also got to meet Colleen.  Thanks so much to Isabel for taking this picture.

Meeting Colleen was definitely a highlight. She is every bit as sweet and full of humor as her blog suggests.  Wish she didn’t live so far away as I would definitely want to make her my BFF and hang out with her as much as possible.  On second thought, I’m sure she’s glad she doesn’t live closer.  ha ha Colleen, if you are reading this, I hope I didn’t scare you with my stalkerish behavior.  It was really great to finally meet you!

There was so much good stuff at this sale and I saw lots and lots of sold stickers on so many things I would love to have bought.  Here’s what I did buy.

Cute dolly, shopping cart, two vintage ticking pillows and letter S.

DSCF1259

Crusty metal table with no top.  Love the scrolly detail.

DSCF1260

Cute white cabinet with zinc lined drawers.  I’m thinking I’m going to use this in the garden shed my husband is finally getting ready to build in the backyard.  Stay tuned for pictures of that.

A cool black chippy hanging thingy. I also bought a bunch of zinc lids for old jars from Sue.  Love them and I never find them.  Thanks Sue for giving me a good deal!

And finally,

I got this metal and wood cart at an “estate” sale on our way home.  It was the only thing there that looked the least bit interesting.  It’s pretty dirty, so it will be getting a clean up soon.

Sunday was a super fun day too.  I went with my family out in the boat at Hagg Lake.  It was super hot, so for me, it was the best place to be.  No pictures as I promised the kids I wouldn’t.

Anyway, that’s it for now.  Got some projects to work on for the upcoming Coburg Antique Faire, my final show of the season. Will be back soon!

Recent Finds and My New Stars Space

The other day I took my number one girl shopping on Hawthorne Blvd. in Portland.  Lots of hip, cool vintage/resale shops.  We were looking for fun, funky clothes for back to school, but as always, I found some good stuff too.  Here’s a picture of what I got.

DSCF1239

Pair of metal doll chairs, rhinestone tiara, baby spoon, silver etched napkin ring, vintage hat, cool bread box and two vintage petticoats.

I’ve been selling every tiara that I find lately, so was very excited to find this one.  So much prettier  and sparklier than pictured.  The cute Gerber baby spoon and napkin ring were Goodwill finds. The surprise with the napkin ring was when I took the price sticker off, underneath were my initials, LJ.  I find things with initials all the time, but never, ever mine and since I have a small collection of vintage silver napkin rings, this one is definitely a keeper.

I was lucky enough to run into a dealer I know at the always fun “House of Vintage.” She gave me a screaming deal on this cute little hutch and a few lingerie items (not pictured).

Yesterday I went to my mall spaces and did a little updating, fluffing.  So glad I remembered to bring my camera so I could show you my new space at Stars.

It was hard to get the whole booth in one picture so hopefully you will get the idea. A recent project is the little lamp with the wire/spoon shade pictured on the right.

Here you can see the vanity that I took to Barn House, the work bench I had at Farm Chicks and lots of other misc. goodies.  That work bench is such a cool piece.  I hope it will find a good home, but I’m not in a hurry as it’s an awesome display piece.

You might remember these lamps from my last post.  I think they are so cute all lined up like that.  The hutch top sat on a dresser that I showed in the last Barn House post.  That dresser sold the day I was moving in.  Yeah!

More goodies.

Another shot.

My first week in my new spot was awesome.  I am beyond thrilled with my sales and will continue to bring more goodies in every week.  Just another excuse to do more shopping.

Speaking of shopping, Isabel and I decided to take a little road trip this weekend.  We will be headed to Yakima to attend the Clayson Farms Antique Sale.  Lots of our friends will be there including Joy, Sue and Julie. I am super excited to be meeting this awesome vintage lovin gal. Colleen will be there with her in-laws who are vendors at this sale.  This is our first time attending this show and we have heard nothing but great things about it so we are stoked!

Another little tidbit is that my hubby and I had our 19th wedding anniversary yesterday.  We will be celebrating tomorrow night at the zoo where we will see this band

I am super excited as I have been a fan for years and years!  Should be a lot of fun!

Barn House Flea Market/What a Dream!

Here it is Wednesday already and I’m just getting around to posting about the fabulous sale that was the Barn House Flea Market.  Words can’t express how wonderful it truly was.  As I’ve said before, the line up of vendors was truly incredible (both super talented and just really nice people) and the goods and displays, delicious eye candy.  What we had no clue to expect was the masses of people who came to buy, and buy they did.  Everyone kept saying how great the show was, how awesome the customers were and how they sold so much stuff.  They didn’t really have to say it, you could see it in their spaces.

I had one customer say she didn’t think she would find anything as she came later.  That’s the great thing about a show like this.  You don’t have to be the first to get there to find good stuff.  It was all good stuff! I didn’t get a lot of pictures, but here are few of the ones I did take.  Mostly of my space.

I didn’t buy a lot, but managed to find a few treasures.

Isabel had these gorgeous barkcloth pillows that I just had to have for my new sofa.  I love them so much!

Inspired by this adorableness that was the creation of Worthy Goods (not sure if Laurie or Debbie did this), I bought this sweet vintage doll stroller frame from Bob and Debbie

I want to thank all the lovely customers who came and shopped.  I saw lots of new faces and some of my favorite people shopping that day.  Everyone I saw had a huge smile on their face and I was so happy to see them all. I want to thank my sweet neighbors, Laurie and Debbie for all of their help and kind words while I was setting up.  But, most of all I want to thank the amazing Joe and Jermonne, for not only all their hard work putting together such an incredible event, but for including little old me in the Barn House family. To say how grateful and lucky I feel would be an understatement.

This has been a very busy week so far.  I spent Sunday and Monday moving my Splendid space over to Stars.  I’m super excited to be directly across from my good friend, Mitzi and I have to say, I think my new space is looking pretty good.  I’ll get some pictures up here soon.  I’m also doing a much procrastinated garage sale this Friday at my house.  I know, I’m a little nuts, but all the stuff I’ve been collecting for this sale has been taking over my house and I want it gone.  Everything will be super cheap with most things being only $1.
