A New Collection, or Two

It all started with this cute purse I found at the White Corner Store in St. Paul, Oregon.

014

I had seen these Victorian metal purses in glass cases at antique shops for very high prices, so you can imagine how excited I was to find this one for $12.00.  It’s in great condition too.

Then I found this one in Joyce’s booth at Monticello. If you know anything about me, you know that I love me some vintage rhinestones.

015

A few weeks ago, while out shopping with my daughter, I found this one at the Buffalo Exchange in Portland.

019

I love how it shimmers in the light, and the rhinestone clasp, forget about it! I had to have it.

I didn’t really set out to collect vintage purses.  In fact, I have sold quite a few adorable vintage purses and currently have a few for sale in my mall booths.  Here are a couple more pictures of the cute purses I found at Expo last weekend.016

The one made in France. Love the clasp and the chain is so sweet and delicate.

017

This one also has a cute chain and I love the fabric.  How cute would this be with a little black dress for a dinner out?

018

The clasp balls even have rhinestones in them.  Love this detail for sure!

021

A lovely beaded one.

I don’t really know much about vintage purses or even the ages of these cuties I have found. I just know I love them.  Now I’m trying to figure out how to best display them. This is what I have for now until I can come up with something better.

023

As for the other collection I accidentally started.

024

Tarnished silver coffee/tea pots. I found the genie looking one at a garage sale for $2.00. The rest I’ve just picked up here and there. The more unusual and tarnished, the better.  I love how they look with the leaded glass piece behind them on top of my china cabinet.

So, two new collections added to my home. What new things have you been collecting lately?

I just love both of your new collections and you are so lucky to find them. I would collect them, but here, they are gobbled up so fast, I don't stand a chance!

What a nice collection you have!
I have several old purses like this that belonged to my mother, never thought about hanging them on a wall this way...what a great idea!

Love the sweet little purses but love the tea pots even more! There is just something about the patina. I think that is what attracts me to the oil cans.

I love those vintage purses too. The sparkly rhinestone one is a beauty!

Those purses are just beautiful and so pretty hanging together -- you have such an eye for pretty + feminine pieces.

And that genie teapot! Yikes. Love. It. No new collections here at the moment as I'm trying to switch out some old old stuff to possibly make room for some new old stuff. New old what? Not sure yet...

You girls are going to have soooo much fun over the pond! I just know that you will find some wonderful English treasures to bring home. Have you been in touch with any UK blog friends? Jane, Jane and The Happy Crow and Michelle, Cowboys and Custard - could perhaps lend some keen insight.

Love the purses!

Have fun at Barnhouse!
