Monticello Home & Garden Show
Where the heck did March go? What a crazy, busy, fun month that was but here we are, now in April. I had a great visit with my little brother in beautiful Phoenix, AZ. Did quite a bit of thrifting and found some lovely vintage items. We also spent a few days during spring break up in Seattle and Vancouver, BC. The weather was kind of crummy, but we had some great family together time, ate some great food and saw the sites.
I also spent some time in March getting ready to be the dealer for the window at Monticello for the month of April. Just got moved in yesterday and while I need to add a few things and maybe do a little tweaking here and there. I have to say, I am tickled pink with the results. Here is a picture courtesy of Darcey at Monticello.
Kind of hard to get a good picture of everything as the glare on the window was pretty bad. For the first half of the month I’m going with a Spring Cleaning theme. Then in a couple weeks, I’m going to change it up with a Vintage Boutique theme. So fun to do something new!
Don’t forget, the Monticello Spring Home & Garden show starts this Friday. Lots and lots of great stuff the dealers have been saving just for this show.
As you can see, the show runs through May 28, and the dealers will be continually restocking, so make sure to come in often.
My next big show is Farm Chicks, the first weekend in June. Starting to get really excited about it. Lots of projects in the works and I know it will be here before I know it. Now, if only the weather would cooperate a bit so I could work on those projects. TTFN!

Hello
I'll be home soon and will be busy getting ready to "do the window" at Monticello for the month of April. I'm super excited as this is my first time and I have some great things planned. Hope you will all come in to check it out. The Spring Sale starts April 6 and is guaranteed to have some of the best vendors and merchandise around.
In the meantime, I'll leave you with a few pics of some things I found before I left on my trip.

Something old is new again
Wow! Where did this week go? Where did February go, for that matter. Time is a flyin! Spent this week playing catch up from being gone last weekend. Laundry, etc. Did a little thrifting too and found some cool stuff, but this post isn’t about that. It’s about something else.
Last summer, a very nice gal who was getting out of the antiques biz and was moving out of her gorgeous home, invited Isabel and me over to preview her garage sale. She had tons of cool stuff and I bought a lot! Including this:
It was the first thing I saw and I loved it. The rusty patina was perfect, but I wanted to swap out those funky composite type shelves for some glass ones. The wheels on it were in sad shape too so I replaced those. Here is the finished piece for sale at the Barn House Vintage Marketplace last July.
It was one of the first things to sell and I could have sold it several times over. Sweet Jill of Forever Cottage bought it to use it as an unconventional sofa table in her great room.
I love where it landed.
One of the fun parts of selling at shows, as opposed to selling at a shop or mall, is you actually get to meet the people who buy your stuff and see the excitement when they fall in love with something I fell in love with too. But rarely do you get to see how that piece is used and where it ends up. So, I was super excited when Jill posted the above picture on her blog.
On that note, I would like to invite you, if you have purchased something from me, either at a show or at one of my booths, to use in your own home, to send me a picture of it. I’d love to share it here on my blog for everyone to see. You can email it to me, if you would like, at athingforroses@hotmail.com.
Thought I would also show you this cute cabinet that Jill bought from my good friend, Mitzi, out of her Stars booth. I first saw the cabinet when Mitzi brought it home from a sale. It was so adorable and unique. Apparently Jill thought so too, and bought it shortly after it made it’s way to Mitzi’s booth.
Thanks to Jill for letting me use her pictures. She has a fabulous and lovely home and I couldn’t be happier that she has little something from me in it.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Old Finds/Old Friends
Just a few of the goodies I’ve picked up over the last week or so.
Found this diamond in the rough at The Bins. It didn’t have a price tag on it so I called over a guy to come help me and told him, “this piece is in sad shape, but I’ll give it a good home if the price is right.” He gave me a screaming deal. I have big plans for this gal. She’ll be making her debut in the window at Monticello in April.
I had a fabulous weekend with four girl friends from high school. We stayed at a lovely house on the beach, ate wonderful food, laughed, walked on the beach and reminisced. There’s just something about the people who knew you when you were young. Here we are getting ready to head out. As you can see, I’m the most ready with my hat and scarf.
That’s all for now. Hope you are all having a great week so far!

The Loves of my Life
I don’t need it to be Valentine’s Day to remind me that these three cuties are the loves of my life.
This picture is a little old. Mother’s Day 2010 to be exact. It’s fun to see how the kids have changed and grown up since then. Makes me realize though, that I need to get some new pictures taken. My daughter will be graduating high school in June then off to college in the Fall which will be bittersweet for me.
I hope wherever you are, you can share the day with the loves of your life. Happy Valentine’s Day!

More Finds
This dresser was a find from last summer. I finally pulled it out of the garage, fixed it up a bit and took it to Monticello where it sold the very same day.
Found these goodies while out thrifting a couple weeks ago. Sold the paper roll thingy, scrolly brackets and two drawer cabinet at Junk Salvation last weekend. Love that little mirror with the birds etched on it. Reminds me of “Portlandia.” “Put a bird on it!”
I love finding crochet and velvet vintage hangers which I always keep. The rhinestone bow pin was added to my collection and the pitcher was a gift for my Mom who loves blue.
Also found this little assortment of vintage towels. Love that someone took the time to embroider something pretty onto something useful.
This one was funny and a reminder not to be naughty.
Found the lamp and shade in two different thrift stores, but they are really cute together. The little candy holder is one I’ve had/sold before, always love the bingo cards for packaging small items, more hangers and I can never pass up those metal reflector thingys. They make cute ornaments with a little bling added to them.
Another rose ticking feather pillow.
Cute coin purse key chain and two rhinestone bracelets.
And finally, my favorite recent find.
Found this adorable vintage pink desk at Stars yesterday. I really didn’t need it. Couldn’t think of a place where I could use it, but just couldn’t leave it behind. I knew I would be thinking about it when I got home so I went ahead and bought it.
Looks so sweet with this little stool I’ve had in my bedroom for years.
How cute it it with this cabinet on top? I’ve had that cabinet in my bedroom forever. It was one of my first antique/vintage purchases and I have never gotten tired of it. It has been a bedside table and just a great storage cabinet. Not sure if it will stay here or not, but I’ll try it for awhile.
A good place for my two French fabric covered boxes and little bears.
Still working on getting my bedroom put back together after the big painting project. Seems to be taking me forever. Trying to minimize and de-clutter, but it’s just so hard. I love so many things. We did finally do the tv cabinet switcheroo as we broke down and finally got a big flat screen so that means decorating changes in the living room. Hopefully I’ll be able to share that soon too. Bye for now!
