American Pickers Giveaway

It’s been awhile since I have done a giveaway on my blog and so I thought it was time.  Especially since the nice folks at the History Channel have given me not one but two dvd’s of the awesome show, American Pickers (season one).  If you haven’t watched this show, what are you waiting for?  It’s awesome and the new season actually starts tonight!  Can’t wait to see what treasures Mike and Frank will find and will they ever let Danielle go on a pick with them?  I guess I’ll just have to watch to find out.

In addition to the dvd of season 1, the lucky winners will receive one of Martha’s adorable Christmas stars.

So, if you would like to enter this fun giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment and tell me about one of your most favorite picks (finds).  I’ll randomly pick two winners first thing Friday morning.  Sound good?  Good luck!

Oh....let's see..first, you gotta love Mike and Frank...they are so funny!
My favorite find was a wooden screw top stool from way beck when at the Syracuse Uiversity College of Environmental Forestry. I use it by my sofa for an end table. Just a beautiful oak stool. That sorta ties with my antique red and white postage stamp quilt. I love them both! Thanks for the chance to win!

Everything I find is my favorite thing! I can't think of one thing that I don't like that I have found or my bf has found for me!
I really love my ice cream chairs- so they were sitting there at a rummage sale for $2 each- nabbed them all of course. This year they needed the bottoms redone, so we used them for tomato cages!
My bf loves this show! She talks about it all the time. I do not watch tv that much- the guys control the remote!

My favorite find - hmmmm - I have so many!!! I think I'll go with the most recent. I am re-doing my guest bedroom for a young lady who lives with us when she is home for break from university (she will be home on Monday!!). The room is BRIGHT yellow with black window treatments and furniture, and red accents - it's like being in the middle of the Dick Tracy movie - very graphic novel looking, but also elegant with a 1930's curvy beveled mirror painted in shiny black enamel. So I was looking for stuff for the room, and went to a resale shop near by and found the cutest little low sewing chair with the storage under the seat, probably from the 50's. Just stained a sad brown with a horrible naugahyde cover on the seat. So - for $7 dollars I brought it home, and just finished the second coat of shiny mustard yellow paint, and will be adding a wide awning stripe seat cover in black and white. IT IS SOOO CUTE!!!! I wish I could post photos in my comment - the room is turning out so great, wish you could see it!

What a great giveaway!

My favorite pick...well I love all my mirrors but for this time of the year I would have to say my chippy white sled!

I LOVE Pickers :)))) My favorite pick would be the suitcase with five vintage barbies and clothes I bought at a yardsale for 5.00. It later sold on ebay for 200.00 :) Not quite in Frank and Mike's league, but fun anyhow :)

Thanks for the nice giveaway!

I have had a lot of best finds, but I found a Paul de Longpre painting. It was painted in 1896 and is a watercolor lithograph. It was in an original frame. I took it and had a gallery look at it and it is worth several hundred dollars. I love it and it hangs in my living room.

What a great give away, please enter my name. We love to watch this show - thanks for the heads up that the new season starts tonight.

My favorite 'picking' memory is many years ago when I use to have an antique booth. I went to a community sale where two ladies were selling lots of odds and ends. There was a box of linens that they told me each item was 10 cents. Well, I bought the whole box sight unseen. When I got it home I found an old sampler dated 1857 - now that was a real pick! And yes, it was a keeper that I still have today.

P.S. Sorry for the posting glitch - I tried to delete the extra posts, but some of it remains.

Love American Pickers! My favorite "pick" was.... a older lady from our church invited me to go to her attic (which had not been opened in 40 years) and take anything I wanted since she was moving and downsizing! WOW!! I found a beautiful small dresser, I have never seen anything like it. Also a luggage set she received on her wedding day and a doll she used to play with when she was a child. That was an exciting pick! Thanks, Amy Raggedyamy24@aol.com

Oh, I love watching those guys. I wish they could look at some girly things once in a while.
One of my newest favorite finds is an old art deco figurine of a woman dancing. It makes me feel good every time I look at it.

Hi! I love your blog, and to go "picking"! My favorite picks have to be those platic and rubber cheap placemats at thrift stores because I use them as permanent templates and foundations for toms of things like masks, wands, mobiles, etc. They were a great discovery!

I love American Pickers! My best pick was a diamond ring set in platinum for .50 cents!

I really want to see this show, but we don't have good cable and I don't get the channel! If I don't win the dvd maybe I will have to go and rent it! The best thing I ever found was a vingtage shaving mirror, stool and primitive bench that were being thrown away. I sold the stool in an antique store by Santa Barbara and Barbara Streisand bought it!!

I've ALWAYS wanted a typewriter, ever since I was little. Well this summer I was at a garage sale, and they didn't have much that was interesting.. but then I saw it! A 1960's typewriter for TEN BUCKS. I had to buy it! Not only was it super cheap, but it was apart of this guy's collection, so it came with all the instruction booklets and all the cleaning brushes! Definitely my best pick ever! :D

One Spring (years ago, pre-internet) I bought some interesting looking living room furniture at a yard sale for $100 which seemed like a LOT of money. Turned out to be Heywood-Wakefield and I was able to sell it for nearly 20x what I paid for it. That's how I got interested in re-selling vintage!

Thanks for the giveaway -- keeping my fingers crossed.

The most memorable pick I ever did was when I found an awesome white chippy architectural piece in Cody Wyoming last summer. It's from an old porch in Missouri and it is the coolest piece. I knew it was meant to be when I saw it and it was the last piece the guy had from that porch. I said I'd take it and he even knocked down the price by a lot. My husband groaned but heck...it's my money so in spite of the groan I bought it anyway and I have no regrets at all. I actually realize now what a very cool piece it is...even more than I thought when I bought it! Sometimes ya just gotta ignore the groans! It's on my blog and this is the link if you want to see it.
http://wildrosevintage.blogspot.com/2010/08/more-chippy-white-paint-for-white.html
The piece went from MO to WY and now to MN. It will go back to WY when we move there in a few years.
I never miss the show! Just watched it last night....Love your blog too by the way....
Thanks!
Faye

OMG Love this show! I head over to my parents place on Mondays and me and my dad watch it. We are both pickers and hit up estate sales every saturday! I also work for a property rental company and we have to clean out houses that have been abandoned and I find all sorts of cool treasures, like great vintage furniture that I like to refurbish, as well as little things like old picture frames and toys.

I am a big Pickers fan! My favorite find has to be the sweet little bavarian tea set I picked up at an estate sale for $10...it was covered in dirt and dust. I didn't realize just how special it was until I brought it home and cleaned it up! It now has a very special home in my curio where I admire it everyday. I took it to an antiques appraiser once who said it was from the late 1800s and was worth between $200 and $300!

My favorite pick was a Cletrac Tractors sign. I knew it was rare and great looking, but I hemmed and hawed over the $295 price at the estate sale. Once I put it on eBay, I was so glad I didn't cheap out.....it sold for $2,100!

Love the show and would love the stars! My favorite pick was an Antique Store auction in Toledo, OR. It had been a long day and we were down to the end with very few bidders left. In the backroom was a stack of Christmas goodies. Lots of stuff not worth taking, you know that stuff! No one bid, so I bid $5 and got the whole stack. On the bottom was a pink aluminum tree still in box...beautiful, not my style. Put it on ebay and got $898 for it. Not a bad find! Happy Holidays

Love the Show and would enjoy winning the 1st Season DVD. I've had SO many awesome picks that choosing one above the rest is challenging. But I guess the biggest surprise was discovering that the Hummel Flower Madonna (in color) that I picked for $9 was worth a staggering amount! I collect Spiritual/Religious Art and though I knew she was a Hummel, I really had no idea of her value since I don't collect Hummels specifically... I just thought she was lovely. She's on our Mantle Christmas Display this year.

I love American Pickers! I discovered them one day last summer when I was supposed to be packing for a trip. Instead, I spent the whole day watching them - I guess they were having a marathon. Thanks,Jen
