The weather has been so beautiful here lately so in between running around getting my girl ready for her trip, I decided to work on some projects.
Last week when I got the call that told me I sold the vanity, I panicked a little because I didn’t have anything ready to go. So, I did what I do when I need furniture in a hurry. I turned to craigslist and found a cute dresser for a good price in my town. Of course, what I thought would be a little sanding and a some different hardware, turned out to be a little bit more of a project.
I forgot to take a before picture, but here’s the gist. Picture black shiny paint on the top and drawer fronts. Khaki paint on the frame. Different hardware on each drawer. Oh, and the best part, 80’s butterfly and ivy leaves that were not only stuck on the top and drawer fronts, they were varnished on. Oops!
So after several hours with chemical paint stripper and my sander and a little tinted wax, here is the end result.
Tell me what you think. The look I was going for was “rustic chic.” First I thought I would paint the whole thing white, but I thought this is kinda cool. I know this look isn’t for everyone, but I like the bits and layers of paint showing.
I will be taking it to my Stars & Splendid booth soon and maybe to Farm Chicks in June if is still hasn’t sold by then.
I have a whole pile of furniture in the garage that I need to get busy working on and hopefully the weather will cooperate a while longer so I can do just that. What projects will you be working on this weekend?

I think it turned out great! I can't believe all the work you had to go through. But this is a really cute vanity. It has great lines.

I LOVE the way it looks now! You obviously put a lot of work into stripping it!

Gosh, I just love this, it is the prettiest ever. What do the inside of the drawers look like? I would be tempted to line them with vintage vwallpaper. Yummy.

that is very cool. it's got me thinking about my bedroom set which is wood (hemnes from ikea) and how pretty it could look with glass knobs. i don't think i ever would have thought of that. thank you!
blogging is just the best, isn't it?

Looks great!!!
By the way I a shopping cart that needs a liner. One of your pictures has them. Do you have any for sale? My cart is like the first one in your picture :)
I like it, especially the knobs! Isn't it fun the way knobs can make a piece look so great!!!
I love the look of your dresser. No doubt an incredible amount of work for you, but the end result is this fabulous dresser!
I love the dresser's new look. Different and spicy! I covered a dresser last autumn in pictures by Frida Kahlo. It is very dramatic and colorful. I am waiting for better weather to set it out front to sell it.
Love it, love it, love it!

I like it just the way it is, too. Couldn't have planned that any better.
What a wonderful transformation! I love it and I really like the top against the distressed bottom!
